Recently our MD Lawrence and Injection Moulding Setter Geoff visited Engel in Schwertberg, Austria to sign off our two new vertical moulding machines, which will be used for over-moulding the soft tyres on our castor wheel hubs.
These machines are part of our ongoing investment program to keep our fleet of moulding machines up to date with the latest improvements in technology and energy efficiency. The machines they replace are approaching their 25th birthday and were due an upgrade, which will bring many benefits to the injection moulding department.
As well as signing off the new machines, Lawrence and Geoff received a factory tour which included the site where the largest machines (up to 12,000t!) are manufactured. To see the machining of a 30’ platen was awe inspiring and truly had to be seen to be believed!
Our two machines have now landed in the UK and we’re looking forward to getting them into production very soon.
